A new series of sermons
On Sunday Jan 1st. The sermon series is entitled, "Who Gave What". We are looking at many of the people that are involved in the Passion Story, that is, as Jesus goes to the cross. Many people are in the story; some of them contributed in a positive way and some in a negative way. "Who Gave What" looks into many of those people and we will see ourselves as we look at them. Please be in prayer for the worship services and be sure to invite folks to worship with you as we look to see "Who Gave What".

WESLEY PRESCHOOL NEWS
Happy New Year from Wesley Preschool! We have been very busy in January. You can see our bulletin board in the hallway outside the gym and snowmen on the ramp walls. We look forward to a great February. We will be talking about our community helpers. We will visit the fire department and the post office. We have a nurse, policeman, and the ambulance service coming to visit us. We love our chapel time and music with Mr. Jon and Ms. Pam. We will be celebrating Valentines Day with special parties and sharing valentines with each other.
We are excited to have two baby brothers and a sister born in January to current students families.
We continue to collect Campbell labels; Capri & Koolaid pouches, and have added Lunchable peel off labels. We get two cents each for these labels and the drink pouches. Please save them for us.
It is an exciting time here at Wesley Preschool. We would love for you to visit us and see how much fun and learning that goes on at Wesley Preschool. We know you would be pleased.
NOTES FROM MY MUSIC STAND
We are entering a wonderful time of the year for music in the church. We are in preparation for Easter cantata, as well as for the Sunday services. Three handbell choirs are working on new literature for upcoming Sundays, as well as for Easter. The Lord is blessing us, and we pray that He blesses our congregations with the music He leads us to present. If you want to be a part of any of the choirs, please contact me, as we would be pleased and blessed to have you join us. The blessings that He will give you are yet untold.
We are pleased to announce that we have enthusiastic response from local pastors for an ecumenical Lenten series of services hosted by FUMC Winchester. All services meet at FUMC and replace our usual noon Holy Week services. During Lent, every Wednesday at noon, there will be a 25-30 minute service followed by soup/salad/bread type of luncheon at 12:30. Each participating church will provide the message, the music, and the meal for its chosen Wednesday, with a couple of smaller churches “teaming up” for a Wednesday. We as the host church at FUMC will not be responsible for a message, music, or meal, except as we might assist one or more of the smaller churches.
Here is the tentative schedule for the Wednesday noon Lenten services:
Feb. 17- Cumberland Presbyterian - What is Lent?
Feb. 24 - Abundant Life-Forgiveness
March 3 -Trinity Episcopal - Repentance and Conversion
March 10 -Burning Bush Original Church of God - Reconciliation
March 17- First Baptist Winchester - Sacrifice
March 24 - Decherd UMC/Decherd Presbyterian - Spiritual Discipline
March 31 - First Missionary Baptist - Call of the Gospel
We are excited about this unity of Christian spirit in our local community, and we ask for your prayers and support for this endeavor. If you are free on any or all of the Wednesday noon services, please attend to lend your heart, voice, and spirit to this unique series of Christian events.
WORK AREA ON MISSIONS
Please pray for the people of Haiti and the relief volunteers who are in the country to help. Dr. Roger Jurich and Sheryl Jurich returned from Haiti on January 16, 2010 and talked to the church on the following day about needs in Haiti. As a result, an offering was taken up for them and another was taken up the next Sunday. As the Jurichs return to Haiti on February 1, they will take with them money for much needed medical supplies. The church received donations of $12,812.00 and all of that goes with the Jurichs to Haiti for earthquake relief.
Faith Promise giving has been down this year. As a result, some of the donations to local charities may be delayed until later in the year. Out church has always been generous and this year we are looking for ways to help in our community. We have many volunteers in community agencies from our church. We thank them for their service.
