United
Methodist Women
The
UMW is an organized unit of the United
Methodist Church
whose purpose is to know God and experience freedom as whole persons through
Jesus Christ. Through their giving, they support Missions around the world.
Our local unit is about 100 strong. We meet every 1st Monday of the month
at 10:30 with an inspirational
program and lunch at noon. We
have bake sales and an Annual Bazaar. We have a spiritual retreat each
April and work closely with the other women in our district.
United
Methodist Men
The
United Methodist Men are a local group certified by the National U.M.M.
organization. The group of about thirty members meets at 8:00
AM on the third Saturday of each month at the church. A breakfast
of both traditional and low cholesterol fare is prepared and enjoyed by
members and guests. Following the breakfast, and interesting program is
presented. The group usually sponsors two fund-raisers a year and uses
the proceeds for various church projects. The members often provide time
for various local, conference, and community projects. New members are
invited.
Family
Camp
Over
130 persons and families attend the weekend of Memorial Day at Fall
Creek Falls
annually. Due to popular response this is offered on a first-come, first-serve
basis. Pre-registration is required. Families and friends participate
in Christian fellowship activities and spiritual growth.
Scouting
A
Boy Scout troop has been sponsored in our Church for over 50 years. Cub
Scout dens meet on a weekly basis and a Pack meeting is held monthly in
the gymnasium. A Girl Scout troop meets at the church monthly.
Recreational
Activities
Through
use of the Spiritual Growth
Center, we have many recreational
opportunities for both the members of First
United Methodist
Church and the community. We
support volleyball, softball, and basketball leagues. Aerobics classes
are also held, along with walking around the gym for fitness.
Faith
Promise
We
have a missionary conference the last weekend of September, led by Missionaries.
At the end, opportunity is given to give to the Faith Promise Fund. This
fund supports:
-
