First United Methodist Church has a rich history.  For more than one hundred years the people called Methodist have had a profound impact upon the city of Winchester and Franklin County.  The sanctuary has a wonderful atmosphere that emphasizes the majesty and the grace of the God who loves the world.

If you are new to Franklin County or just new to First UMC, we want you to know that we are glad that you are here.  God has something special in store for you in this place.  Please receive this pamphlet as a personal invitation to come and worship with us.

You will find a diverse group in this place.  We come in all sizes, shapes, ages and backgrounds.  We dress in everything from jeans and shorts to coats and ties.  In our various worship services you will see hands lifted in praise or someone quietly kneeling in prayer.  You may hear a drum and keyboard, a pipe organ, a choir or a gospel quartet during one of our three Sunday morning worship services.  Yes we come from all walks of life but the one thing we all hold in common is our desire to encounter God and to become more like Jesus.

As the pastor of this congregation, I hope you will feel free to contact me if you have anything you would like to speak with me or someone on our church staff.

Yours in Christ,

Steve Angus
